Organizational Capacity TOP TEN PROGRAM GOALS FOR 2008 – 2010 1. Educate Marin County and the wider Bay Area about the importance of supporting the local and organic food system, including the positive impact purchasing and consuming local, organic food has on our economy, environment, social welfare and public health. 2. Increase Marin Organic Producer Membership adding new members each year. 3. Support the conversion of 10,000 acres in Marin County from conventional agricultural production to organic production. 4. Help producer members economically by expanding brand recognition and demand for local organic products. 5. Increase the sale of locally grown, organic food at the farmers market by 10% each year, or 35% by 2010. 6. Enroll 50 Marin schools in the Organic School Lunch and Gleaning Program by 2010. 7. Provide free gleaned local, organic food to 15 different low-income resource centers, elderly care facilities and daycare centers by 2010. 8. Provide volunteers and interns to support our farmers, training opportunities for young farmers and educational opportunities for the public in order to bridge the knowledge gap between farmers and the general public about agriculture. 9. Add two new public programs that help to expand and diversify Marin Organic’s earned income revenue stream, enabling the organization to become less dependent on annual fundraising. 10. Set aside ample resources for a reserve fund, ensuring the financial health of Marin Organic in perpetuity.
